Had a meal here with friends a couple of weeks ago. We had a warm welcome and a very friendly and helpful hostess. Food was lovely and good value. I would recommend the pie. Will return again.
Pretty much my favourite pub. I've been coming to the 'egg' for decades from a teenager to now (a grown up of 50+ years). Lovely ambiance, character, beer and food. I was talking to the landlady today and didn't realise the pub had been in the family for some 90 years. I try to get to the egg every couple of months for lunch...never disappointed...the steak pie is lovely. Sat is the bar today right next to the wood burner which really added to the experience. People need to use pubs like this more not just for beer and food but also a place to meet people.
Wonderful country pub, great atmosphere, service and selection of beers. Good food menu & excellent food. Service is outstanding, welcoming and friendly. Log burner and low beams adds to the Wonderful cosy atmosphere. The hotel section of this pub is also outstanding.
A most welcoming, comfortable country pub/hotel with excellent food. Family-run over generations and dating back centuries, the rooms are an addition and very quiet and spotless. A large car park is to the rear, up a slight slope, but no steps. The bar has a log fire and the restaurant offers a 'must-have' home-made pie - check in advance it's available (it's that good!)
Great place in a lovely location Room was perfect, and 4 poster bed was an added bonus, the view across the fields was so relaxing watching the young rabbits play. Restaurant was top-notch good tasting food served with style All in all we would highly recommend this place to stay and dine
Friendly welcome, rooms very clean, shower lovely and hot with great pressure? The pub/restaurant has a great atmosphere. The service with friendly and efficient. The food was excellent, the best steak I've had in a very long time and breakfast was delicious.If we are back in this part of the country again we would definitely stay here again.
We had a really nice stay at the hotel, location is great as it’s quiet. Friendly staff, tasty breakfast, good drinks as well. Definitely gonna be back next time we’re in the area
We did not stay here, just popped in for the first time, on an afternoon for some lunch. The food was exceptional, real home cooked pub food. We highly recommend the steak pie, amazing everything with lots of gravy. It's a beautiful old pub, very friendly and good beer. So hard to find places like this, an alternative to the pub chains.
